The ground-breaking research behind The Transparency Edge confirms two crucial concerns for today’s companies:
- Leaders aren’t practicing transparency as well as they could,
and they even admit so. For example, in assessment surveys, 62%
of leaders said they could improve at admitting mistakes. And in recent
assessment surveys, only 26% of more than 4,800 employees were highly
satisfied with their leader’s performance in communicating in
a direct and straightforward manner.
- Leaders’ perceptions of themselves and how others see them
often don’t match. For example, while the vast majority of leaders
described themselves as being overwhelmingly honest in assessments,
over 50 percent of almost 13,000 peers and direct reports said their
leaders could improve in being honest and ethical.
The book’s research was derived using data from a database of
approximately 16,000 executives who participated in 360-degree assessments
developed and administered by Assessment
Plus, a leading assessment and
leadership development firm with worldwide clients. The database is primarily
senior and upper-level management in Fortune 500 firms from various industries
in locations throughout the world.
